We will also be discussing the importance of understanding the break-even point when it comes to your policy. This is often very closely tied to the design of the policy. In this instance, we are minimizing the base premium compared to PUA (paid up additions) contributions. By the end of the video, you'll have a clear understanding of when you can expect to start seeing a return on your investment in terms of cash value, in this case around year 4 with the short term performance PUA option. This case study is a target funding outlay of $100,000 for 5 years and then nothing thereafter. When comparing the "growth scenario" to the direct recognition scenario, in this example the cash value and death benefit will be less when the loan is paid back. Guardian also has an option to elect moving to non-direct recognition and variable loan interest in year 10 of the policy. In this non-direct recognition loan scenario, the cash value and death benefit are restored to exactly the same amount as compared to the growth scenario.
