Why I Rarely Use My Shoei Transition Shield

I own the Shoei RF1200 helmet and the transition shield caught my attention a while back however after using it for some time, I've found it's limitations and so I find myself carrying a clear and dark smoke shield on me to swap out rather than using the transition shield.
What has been your experience with this product?
