This panel discussion was a part of LDV Capital's 7th Annual LDV Vision Summit (February 2021).

Ever since the DARPA challenge of 2006, hundreds of millions of investor dollars have gone into LiDAR and Radar startups trying to make 3D sensors as ubiquitous as CMOS cameras.
There are still hundreds of companies working on this, and 5 have gone IPO or filed for IPOs through SPAC mergers. There have been some spectacular failures, and very little to show for any of this.
Is it all hype? Or is a technical marvel right around the corner that will justify all the hype?

Dr. Dragos Maciuca is the Technical Director & Senior Technical Leader at Ford's Research and Innovation Center in Palo Alto. He is an experienced engineer and management professional who previously worked at BMW, Nissan, Apple, KLA-Tencor, and Lockheed Martin. He has extensive experience advising startups, developing and commercializing products, collaborating with universities and leading cross-functional teams.
