Treatments before psychoanalysis

Although people were interested in mental disorders for thousands of years, their understanding was dependant on current religious beliefs and practices, like witchcraft and demonology. Even deep into the 19th century, causes of mental disorders were a complete mystery, and patients were exposed to isolation and suffering. In this video, several historical documents related to this are reviewed.
