An introduction to the Gulf Stream / AMOC ocean circulation using observations and hydrodynamic model data. I've tried to show some of the features of the circulation which are normally hidden by removing the warm, light upper ocean layers to reveal the deep, dense southward flowing currents.

Also, an introduction to the OSNAP mooring array, which is an observation system designed to track the strength of the AMOC over time.

Animations in Paraview, pre-processed using MATLAB.
