Who would have thought that a pebble on the beach would ignite an idea so inspirational, that might change the digital future of the African Continent? With assistance from FABlab Namibia, the Finnish Embassy and various partners, Vincent van Wyk, PEBL Lead Product Developer and his business partner which he only referred to at Angelo, have taken technology to the next level by designing PEBL, the first locally designed and low-cost high-performance computer. Van Wyk believes that one should not “sit on your bread” and wait for opportunities to come your way, but rather to go out there and make a difference. He took us down memory lane where the whole idea of PEBL started. The emerging local startup, represented Namibia, together with two other startups, whom will feature soon on Today on One, at Europe’s biggest entrepreneur conference, SLUSH. The conference brought together leading actors of the global tech scene to Helsinki Finland with over 2600 startups in attendance this year. Since the establishment of Namibia’s first FABlab, the organization has seen growth in youth driving their own ideas and following the entrepreneurship path.
