Miniature DIY project repurposing plastic bottle caps for Faux cakes in small displays or as gifts

This is an easy DIY project decorating miniature faux cakes for display in small scenes, dollhouses, kitchens, bakeries or celebration & party foods for 1:6, 1:12, 1:24, 1:48 scales.

The video shows the “cake” bases from clean plastic bottle caps with paint as the “frosting or fondant icing” top cover, then decorate with string, paper or sand. Similar miniature cakes could be made from clay, paper or wood.

These cakes measure from 1/8 to 1 7/8” diameters, some with additional layers or tiers.

Materials & suggested items for project:
[1] bottle cap- cake base - plastic from water, juice, milk or other bottle containers, clean & dry in various sizes; beads or small buttons may work for smaller cakes
[2] paints - top cover coat - matte spray made for plastic, acrylics & brushes & easy release tape
[3] paper - copy, doilies, laser cut design stationary for decorative bits, purchased mini shapes, quilling strips
[4] small clamps or sewing pins
[5] ribbon, thin yarn, crochet thread, Bunka, sewing thread or kite string for edging & trimmings
[6] ruler, pencil & paper
[7] glue - PVA clear dry, like Aleen’s original tacky glue or others, matte sealer
[8] containers to hold glue or paints, like a bottle cap
[9] scissors, craft knife & cutting mat
[10] tweezers
[11] toothpicks
[12] punches - small 1/8 & 1/4” designs in various shapes like star, sun, heart, circle, oval, etc
[13] permanent markers, color pencils for additional shades
[14] stylus & foam mat
[15] wax paper, plastic protector, painter or easy release tape
[16] decoration items like craft sand, glitter, micro ball, confetti, faux snow, small beads, small buttons, finger nail art, watch or phone rhinestones, stickers, laser cut tiny paper pieces or no hole beads
Accessories: candles, napkins, dishes
