Welcome back to ProGuitarShop and ToneReport.com. Today, we’re checking out the DD-500, from Boss. The DD-500 represents the end-game of the Boss DD series, combining an ultra-powerful DSP engine that gives you precise and detailed models of every delay type under the sun. 12 delay types are available on the DD-500, with classic modes such as Analog and Tape to more esoteric types such as Reverse and the delay engine from Boss’s future classic Tera Echo. The latest DD-500 update and brand new Editor software gives players the opportunity to simply and deeply edit each patch's internal parameters with an easy to use interface. Every menu on the DD-500 is in plain sight, whether you want to adjust the delay's EQ, ducking, modulation, assign functions to the Control switches or change MIDI information. Plus, the Librarian feature allows full control over every DD-500 patch with organization, renaming and backup options.
The DD-500 offers the highest-quality sound quality on the market, including 32-bit processing and an all-analog signal path. The onboard control set offers standard delay controls that include modulation, but each delay patch can be deeply edited with a four-band parametric EQ and ducking functions. Three footswitches perform several different functions, including bank shifting and tap tempo for each mode. An onboard Looper transforms the DD-500 into an intelligent looping machine, with a full complement of features for the discerning solo musician. The rear panel of the DD-500 offers true stereo ins and outs, as well as a control port that functions as an expression processor or an external tap tempo for players who prefer their pedals tucked away elsewhere. The DD-500 also features MIDI in and out for those looking to take the controls to the next level, and is built extremely well with years of use in mind.
