Spiti Sojourn 2019 in a Self Drive

The planning of this trip began two months back.
7 Days itinerary for Spiti Valley

We browsed a lot of Self Drive Car companies and zeroed on Avis.Innova Crysta the mighty beast with the most comfortable seats was chosen.No hotel booking's nothing we just booked the car and went ahead.

Day 1-2 : 3rd - 4th June : Delhi-Kalpa

Innova crysta delivered to my doorstep at sharp 9:00 AM and to my utter surprise it was a brand new car with 930km on odo.

Journey began in the evening after office and i picked up my two ex Grofer's colleagues from their house.It was around 8:00 PM when the Journey began.We had a lot of supplies and hence installed one dustbin in the car for the journey and one mayur jug for water supplies.

Off to Chandigarh after getting RTO done for the journey .Picked up my cousin from chandigarh and had dinner.

Off to the Devbhoomi Himachal

Breakfast at Narkanda ,no proper loo in negi dhaba so ate at snow view hotel

By the late evening gulping down some fresh cherry and apricot we entered Kinnaur.

Reached Kalpa by 5:00 PM and got us a room at Tab exotica with the view of the mighty Kinner Kailash range.Dinner and off to sleep.

Day 3: 5th June :Kalpa - Tabo

Left around 8 in the morning and went straight to the fuel station,no diesel drove back 20 km towards shimla got a tank full and off we went.

Nako lake - Nako Monastery and Lunch

Reached tabo by evening ,hotel just beside monastery.Explored around monastery and the village.Had some night shots clicked with the stars ,stargazed through the evening and off to sleep.

Day 4:Tabo-Kaza

Breakfast - Morning monastery visit - Tabo caves

Trekked to Dhankar lake in the snowfall,75 minutes of pure fun and had lunch at the lake.Spent sometime sunbathing and enjoying one of the most beautiful views of spiti valley.Dhankar looked beautiful and the Monastery was just a sight.

Reached kaza by evening got us a hotel kUNZUM SPITI INN ,had parking for our car.

Dinner at Taste of Spiti ,Kaza wrap is recommended rest was just ok.

Day 5 : Komic hikkim langza kibber chicham key monastery

Tanked up at the world's highest petrol pump

Start with hikkim then komic then langza,have lunch at key monastery by afternoon and head to chicham .Stay in lossar which will give you that village feel.

Chicham bridge is asia's highest bridge

We stayed in kaza .

Day 6 : Kunzum pass

Early morning 5 AM dash to kunzum from kaza

The beauty of the way is just out of this world ,it's just unprecedented views of the nature.After many photographs and some pee breaks reached kunzum pass.

It was one of the most beautiful places in the world.

Mission accomplished of Taming the mighty Kunzum

Headed to kaza and had lunch in zostel ,one of the best food of our whole journey.Recommended for Bikers.Ample parking space.

Headed onwards as we thought we'll drive till the evening.Reached Pooh by 6 in the evening and stayed their for the night.

Day 7 : Chitkul - Last village on Indo-tibetan border

Headed back home we took a detour to Chitkul and stayed their for the night.The place was peaceful with the river flowing by the side and one of the best views possible.Had our dinner under the stars beside the river in the cold.

Day 8 : Delhi

Headed back home we had memories of one of the most beautiful roadtrip anyone could ever take.The cold,the sunshine and the snowfall.

Lahaul Spiti ,we never reached lahaul or did we and we missed the pin valley.We need a reason to come back don't we.

Never bought a single plastic bottle for water or any aerated drink.Emptied our dustbin in the right place.
