A drivetrain consists of several components: a transmission, engine, driveshaft, axle shaft, CV joint, U-joint, and differential. Together, these components help to move the wheels and other parts. However, the drivetrain may malfunction due to several issues.
Some of the common problems that may cause your Mini Cooper’s drivetrain to malfunction include:
• Transmission problems: Shifting issues, worn-out components, and low transmission fluid levels can cause drivetrain malfunctions. Transmission problems can be prevented and minimized by following the proper and recommended maintenance schedule. This ensures the transmission functions smoothly and does not cause possible drivetrain malfunctions.
• Damaged or bad spark plugs: Spark plugs help to ignite the fuel within the combustion chamber. Faulty or bad spark plugs can result in a misfire, affecting engine performance, which may cause the drivetrain to malfunction. It is recommended to change the spark plugs after every 60,000 - 100,000 miles. Refer to your owner’s manual for specific recommendations.
