Yesterday, the US had its presidential election.

The counting happened right immediately after the election.

At 10.00 am in India, Republican candidate and former president Donald Trump has won 24 provinces.

The candidate of the Democratic Party and the current Vice President, Kamala Harris, who contested the election against him, has won 15 provinces.

In the US presidential election, the Electoral College process is followed.

Which means the winning candidates will elect the president.

Same as we do in our country.

For example, there are a total of 50 provinces in the US.

The members of the Electoral Commission will be based on the population of the respective provinces.

Altogether, there are 538 electorate members.

A candidate who gets the support of at least 270 members can win the presidential election.

In that way, as of 11 o'clock, Trump has 246 and Kamala Harris has 187.

It is noteworthy that a total of 186 million people are eligible to vote in the presidential election.

Likewise, Donald Trump won the election and became the 47th American president.

Still, the US follows the election sheet, not EVM machines.

Also, they calculate votes right immediately after the election.

But what about India? Why do we keep election results later?

Also, why are we using EVM if the developed nation is using the paper system?
