This Limited Edition Winston Churchill cigar explores another facet of the exceptional gentleman. With its chessboard theme, it is occasionally referred to as the "Commander". The blend features an Ecuadorian wrapper. The binder is a Dominican hybrid number 257, and the filler is Dominican Piloto Ligero, Dominican Hybrid 20-20 Seco, a San Vicente Mejorado, also from the Dominican, of course, San Vicente Visus and Esteli Visus from Nicaragua. All in all, there was a bit more than 11,000 boxes of these cigars manufactured, with each box carrying 10 cigars.

The wrapper looks oily, glossy, sort of a walnut milk chocolate brown, a few veins and seams that are detectable. The cigar feels rather soft in my hands, even though I didn't get a lose draw on the cold draw there. And I'm really looking forward to the technical performance and what it's going to reveal during the smoke. Other than that, the aromas off the wrapper and off the foot were earthy and woody.

The cigar is mellow and creamy. It produces depth and complexity from the first third. Its initial notes consist of green walnut, pear, and pink grapefruit. The second third develops body with notes of fresh mustard, ripe parmigiano cheese, olibanum, and vetiver. The final third is rich in body and consists of nougat, salt, and black olive.

The box is prestigious as are the accessories. The cigar features two bands: one is the classic white label whereas the other simply states "limited edition 2021".

At $32 per stick, the price is quite heft and represents an occasional smoke.

Consider pairings like aged grappa, white wine, or grapefruit juice as beverages. Meanwhile, ripe parmigiano and other cheeses would be excellent snack choices.
