Welcome to The No Dig channel! 🌱 Today, we're exploring the no-dig method to grow delicious and nutritious beetroot. Whether you're a seasoned grower or just starting out, we've got you covered!

Hi, I'm Gary, and in this video, I'll walk you through the steps to successfully grow beetroot using the no-dig method. Let's get our hands dirty, without actually digging!

The foundation of our no-dig bed is key. Begin by laying down a thick layer of cardboard or newspaper over your garden area. This will suppress weeds and gradually decompose, enriching the soil. Next, cover the cardboard with a rich layer of compost, about 4-6 inches deep. This compost will be the growing medium for our beetroot, packed with the nutrients they need.

Now, let's plant our beetroot seeds. Make shallow furrows in the compost and sow the seeds about 1 inch apart. Cover them lightly with compost and water gently.

Beetroot seeds will germinate in about 7-14 days. Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged, and watch your seedlings thrive. As your beetroot seedlings grow, thin them out to about 3-4 inches apart. This gives each plant enough space to develop those lovely, round roots.

Mulching around your beetroot plants helps retain moisture and keep weeds at bay. Plus, it adds an extra layer of organic material to your no-dig bed.

After about 8-10 weeks, your beetroot will be ready to harvest. Look at these beauties! The no-dig method promotes healthy soil, fewer weeds, and vibrant, tasty beetroot.

Growing beetroot using the no-dig method is simple, sustainable, and incredibly rewarding. Plus, it's great for your garden and the planet!
