I apologize for any shaky cam, I have tremors! Also I jump scare easily, you may see me jump back when the tarantulas move occasionally!

This is my young Roatan Island Purple Tarantula (Theroposinae sp Roatan). This is a new world terrestrial from the seasonally dry scrublands of Roatan Island in Central America. I got this tarantula as a very small sling, a freebie with my purchase from Fear Not Tarantulas! These little guys are awesome! They guys are voracious eaters even as slings! When they are still little, squish the bugs head, they will come out and eat it when ready! They are very skittish as younger slings but gain confidence as they age and grow in size. They are fast growing & grow between 4 - 6 inches.While females live 12 - 20 years while males live 3 - 4 years. Males mature with beautiful purple colors and females stay a more dusty brown color!! They are a new world so not medically significant, but there is not a lot of information about their bites online.
