Buzz Saw From PTO to Flat Belt

Описание к видео Buzz Saw From PTO to Flat Belt

This buzz saw was designed for the little Fergusons and the Ford N-series tractors with the rear mount pto right angle drive. It had been previously converted for use with any standard category 1 three point and tractor that had their own rear mount right angle drive. A breakdown of the tractor this was converted for necessitated a 're-conversion' to make it operate as a stand alone buzz saw powered by any machine by means of a flat belt.
Sound counter productive..?? Not really. We have plenty of tractors that can serve as the power unit but at the time, only one to operate it as a three point. The simple answer to get this thing back in the wood pile down at my son's house was to do what we did...make it a totally stand alone saw.
The trick however, was to make it easily adaptable for use one way to the other. So the part fabricated in the video assembles in minutes by means of two bolts that thread into nuts that are welded in place. One wrench and three minutes.... you are good to go. Just that quick. But it HAD to be made heavy to sustain the pull of a tractor to maintain belt tension.
Suffice it to say that besides the blade being embarrassingly dull and the inconsistent running and flopping of the too old of a belt the operation was a success. At least to me...the guy fitted with the untrained eye it is. All you engineering types are probably suffering from all the forehead slaps you've endured IF you hung in long enough to see the whole design come together. No matter...don't let your brain or your nerves suffer too much because I've done much more dangerous things than this....like forgetting special days the Missus is convinced should be burned into my memory like an indelible marker on a thousand dollar wedding dress...or one from the Dollar Tree thrift store for that matter. Yeah, using a belt dressing stick near a huge pulley flying around in a circle powered by a massive gasoline engine is nothing compared to that particular wrath !!
Seriously, for you folks not familiar with the mechanics of farm equipment, the 'leaving' side of the pulley the belt is pushing your hands AWAY from the danger....so the tractor is looking out for your safety....its up to YOU to not apply the belt dressing on the 'incoming' side of the pulley....where the tractor becomes an angry beast just looking for a pair of wrists and arms to break in several places.
As always, do NOT do the things I do in the manner in which I do them. But if you do, please have adequate health and life insurance coverage...you may need one or the other. #outdoors, #buzzsaw, #massey
