Transatlantic: A Voyage of Discovery (Sailing USA to Ireland in a tall ship)

Many people have asked me about the work I do with SEA Semester, where I sail as a tall ship captain and educator in semester-long programs at sea. This is a film (my first real film!) made during a Transatlantic crossing aboard the Sailing School Vessel Corwith Cramer. We sailed from Woods Hole, Massachusetts to Cork, Ireland. It was a great journey!

The film won the "Grand Prize" at the International Maritime Film Festival in 2017 which was really fun. It follows a leadership student (Meg), a science student (Katie), the steward (Bex), the Chief Mate (Scott), the Chief Scientist (Deb), and me as we all worry about different things on the voyage but work together as a team to get it done safely.

Assistant film credit also goes to my friend Shawn who sailed as a Carpenter, Intern Leona, and my mom who filmed us leaving the dock in Woods Hole!

Some of the music in the film was created by me and the crew (including Chief Mate Scott and Intern Nina), and the rest is Royalty free music and is featured below:

Jason Shaw, "Acoustic Meditation" and "One Fine Day"
Chris Zabriskie - "Cylinder Six" "That Kid in 4th Grade" and "The Temperature on the Bow"
Jahzzar - "The Valley" "Where it Goes" and "Take me Higher"
Andy G. Cohen - "Through the Lens" and "Land Legs:
David Mumford - "Night Without Sleep" "Singing in the Rain" and "Twinkle Twinkle"
Josh Woodward - "Once Tomorrow"
