Built in 1950, this is a Model G724 made by the Zenith Radio Corp. It was purchased from an antique mall in Michigan a few weeks ago. The filter caps and all paper caps were replaced. I completely disassembled the radio, cleaning it inside and out. The original Bakelite shined up very nice. There are a few flaws but overall it's a beautiful radio and sounds great.

Thanks again to my friend Larry Micheals who has spent a lot of time on the telephone and sending e-mails back and forth to educate me on the process of doing the repairs to several radios now. This was the third radio in which I have replaced the capacitors. Slowly I am learning to decipher schematic drawings in order to properly restore these radios.

This one is my favorite so far because it just sounds so great. I find myself turning off the television now and listening more to the radio. Just like when I was a kid, it's fun at night to scan the AM dial and pull in distant radio stations.

My apologies for the bouncing focus. I guess I need to set the camera on manual focus when I'm going to move my hands in front of the camera!
