These are the most common - early days - covalent dot-and-cross diagrams we recommend you learn as a part of your introduction from A-level Chemistry.
I's VERY likely you have drawn these before at GCSE but please notice how I don't use any 'circles' to join up the spaces that house the electrons. Lets keep it simple.

The 'octet rule' that you may have seen as part of your GCSE in Chemistry will apply to most of these but please note that this will not hold up with some examples that we will encounter later in the course.
