Jason Ringenberg, “The Original Roots Punk Barnstormer” took the Blue Plate stage by (barn) storm and treated the appreciative audience to some vintage Jason and The Scorchers tunes, including this one, called “Link Wray”, about the legendary artist that greatly influenced his career. Jason had a dream of “Making a band that could kick American roots music into the modern age!”, and throughout the 1980’s and 90’s Jason and The Scorchers became known as one of the most exciting live bands in music. Their instinctive ability to combine traditional country music with high energy punk rock is still sets the standard. In 2008 they were awarded the Americana Music Association Lifetime Achievement Award for Performance, and they have an exhibit the Country Music Hall of Fame. At the end of the video, Jason shares his thoughts about the influence that Link Wray had on Jason and The Scorchers, as well as all rock and roll music in general. He also dedicates the song to WDVX's own Doug Lauderdale, who hosts the "Rumble" rockabilly show on Saturdays at 7 PM.
