This is my 1977 Honda CB400F2 sohc motorcycle. Registered in Minnesota in 1977 it was shipped to the UK in 2010 where I bought it. It is completely unrestored and should prove of some use to restorers as it has all-original paintwork, decals and stickers. I have, however, modified it. The US-spec F2 had forward set front pegs like the CB350F and high handlebars. I have substituted the rear-set pegs and standard bars, as well as a UK-spec headlight switch and headlamp. The modification is completely straightforward: the rear-set front pegs simply bolt in in place, but of course you need both the gear shift linkage (which pivots on the left rear-set footrest assembly) and the shorter brake pedal. In theory you also need to replace the pivot on which the brake pedal fits, but in practice you merely experiment with locating it on the pivot to get the right leverage. This does work, and is how mine is set up - I do have the alternate pivot but it hasn't proved necessary to fit it.

I've left the US indicators, rear mudguard and after-market chrome covers for the clocks in place. Also, the US-spec F2 had swing-arm mounted rear pegs, thus reverting to to the early design of the CB400F.

2024: the bike has now been sold, after 14 years of ownership. I had no need of it any more. I believe it has gone to Cumbria. I thought I'd miss it, but I haven't given it a moment's thought. Life moves on.
