Abstract:
On this workshop, we will build a Probabilistic Deep Learning model, more specifically a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) with the ability to capture aleatoric uncertainty. We will compare its results against a deterministic CNN to understand the benefits of a probabilistic approach. To build our model, we will use TensorFlow Probability, which is a Python library built on top of TensorFlow that simplifies the combination of probabilistic models and deep learning on modern hardware (e.g. GPU). Basic to intermediate knowledge in the areas below will help on easily follow the workshop: python (we use python 3), general machine learning and deep learning concepts (namely CNNs), and statistics and probability.

Short-bio:
Luis is currently doing a Ph.D. in Computer Science, focused on Deep Probabilistic Forecasting Models. His focus is on bridging the gap between Machine Learning research and the real economy.

Luís Roque co-founded HUUB and, for 6 years, was the CEO of the company. He raised 5M€ from VCs and corporate VCs (such as Maersk, the biggest logistics service provider in the world) and grew the company to more than 70 employees. HUUB is disrupting the Fashion Supply Chain of the future, using technology to optimize the flow of goods worldwide. The company was ranked as one of the fastest-growing tech companies in the EMEA region in 2019 (placed at 54).

The continuous academic evolution is the backbone of Luis's path, with a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering and Management, a degree in Computer Engineering, a Web Development specialization, and a Postgraduate degree in Business Intelligence & Analytics.
