It's Melting - Lockdown Sessions #4 (Consistent) - Dark Sine - Spontaneous Quarantainment Musicvideo

Описание к видео It's Melting - Lockdown Sessions #4 (Consistent) - Dark Sine - Spontaneous Quarantainment Musicvideo

Inspired by Weather Report, Soft Machine, Zappa, Robert Fripp, and the Art Ensemble of Chicago, Rotterdam based quartet Dark Sine recorded improvised one-takers between December 2020 and May 2021 under the name Lockdown Sessions.

It’s Melting - live quarantainment jam, shared during lock-down
A staccato-legato improvisation we played on the day before the snow vanished. One of our favorites. With a feel like: it’s raining outside but I don’t have to go out.

You can Lock musicians Down, but you cannot Silence them.
After nine months of Corona-restrictions, Dark Sine started doing improvised concerts without audience in November 2020. (A fancy way of saying: playing for ourselves at home with an imaginary audience in mind)
We took “Improvised” literally: start playing without knowing tempo, key or theme, and see what happens. Because it was fun, we kept doing it every week and started recording it on a 16-track recorder. No rehearsals, no second takes, and no overdubs; we just played for about 90 minutes with the recorder on. Mixing and mastering afterwards took much longer.

Results varied from chaotic and embarrassing (often) to slightly magical (rarely) – and everything in between, but on most tracks, we heard ourselves doing our best and having a good time.

By the time we had recorded over a 100 tracks, we wanted to share the ones we like.
Due to the nature of the recordings, you may hear mistakes, misunderstandings, accidents and fortunate coincidences (or clairvoyance?). Whatever it was, it was not planned – but we enjoyed it and hope you do too.

“It’s Melting” is from the session we did on January 18, 2021.
You hear:
Kees Baldé - processed Fender Rhodes piano
André Dienske – OJF fretless bass guitar
Peter Baldé - piano
Martijn Heesakkers – drums & percussion
