Описание к видео Financing Global Health’s Future: Beyond the Budget Cuts

In this Global Health Coffee Session, we are joined by two renowned experts: Vanessa Kerry, MD, MSc, WHO Special Envoy for Climate Change and Health and Co-founder and CEO of SEED Global Health, and Jayati Ghosh, PhD, Professor of Economics at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Dr. Louise Ivers, Faculty Director at the Harvard Global Health Institute, moderates the discussion.

This session addresses the urgent challenges posed by significant reductions in U.S. overseas development assistance (ODA) and other global health funding. Our speakers explore the far-reaching consequences of these cuts, from disease resurgence to weakened health systems, and the global trend of declining health-focused aid. They examine the vulnerabilities of current donor-dependent models and propose alternative financing strategies that emphasize sustainability, equity, and local ownership. The conversation also highlights how investments in the health workforce, fiscal policy reform, and more accountable global partnerships can help reimagine the future of global health financing.
