Little League pickle drill

Описание к видео Little League pickle drill

The pickle drill is set up with a pitcher, catcher and third baseman. Live runners start between 3B and home. The key to this drill is that the ball can start anywhere. By mixing up where the ball starts, kids get comfortable adapting to any game scenario. When the ball starts at home or 3B the pitcher gets accustomed to covering the unoccupied base. You can get in a lot of reps and you can set up this drill in any space if you set up a quarter of a diamond. Other pickle concepts apply, such as:

1. Run hard at the runner to force the runner to commit to running.
2. Run the runner preferentially back to 3B. Also don’t be late throwing it home. You can throw slightly later when driving the runner back to 3B.
3. Run with ball in hand.
4. Pick a lane to make a dart throw.
5. Follow your throw to cover the soon-to-be unoccupied base.
6. Fielders are allowed one pump fake while running a runner down.
