I reacted and responded to ‪@DavidLongIAM‬'s video from our ongoing virtual debate in a series of glitchy Live streams. This is a 2-part video edit of those which ought to be more watchable.

David is a critic of Integral Theory and the creator of an alternative system called Non-Reductionism. To distill the debate to base elements, you can assume that David partially or fully disagrees with the following: I personally believe that the teachings of advaita vedanta (Buddhism), Integral Theory, and zen, for three among many examples, point a seeker towards some of the most important and fundamental realities available to human beings, converging on a fundamental constant of experience called nondual enlightenment, to use a term that can be fairly generalized across traditions, times, and belief systems. I use Eastern, alternative, and sometimes indigenous ideas, rather than "mainstream" or "accepted" philosophies, because I believe that these sources reveal to us a cross-cultural and cross-historic "perennial wisdom" that is of fundamental relevance to all people in all times, and it is the sacred (but often secret) precious jewel at the heart of all major world religions, for example. I turn to these "obscure", often (not always) "religious" sources, because I don't believe that this information is available elsewhere - for example, in my culture, in my media, in my University, and indeed, in many of the "spiritual communities" that I've been involved with. I also assert that it is mature and consistent with today's science and philosophy and spirituality, and not stupid, to say that the cosmos is a system which creates matter from energy of an unknown origin, this matter unfolds into molecular substance as time's arrow moves forward. As time's arrow moves forward, it does many things that look similar, which occur at a similar Level, but it does only one thing, in every case we know of, which genuinely moves time's arrow "forward", not so much in the sense of passage of relative "time" from nobody's perspective, but in the sense of development - the development of Levels of true organizational complexity. Molecular substance (a galaxy of star systems, for example) does all sorts of things, but it does one thing that moves time forward. It generates Life. That's a new thing.
Matter, Substance, Life, Mind.
Life does all sorts of things, but only one of the infinite species of life (per planet) evolves (not in terms of adaption to environment through natural selection but in terms of creating a new Level of existence) to the level of civilization. A billion years of Life, a hundred thousand years of Mind. There is no comparison between what each has accomplished, as this is the only case where such a comparison is nonsensical. There are no morals or ethics to Life, Substance, or Matter. Those are nonsensical. However, I find myself here, and I see relativistic time as the circumstances and conditions which lead to this moment, and continue on from it, through it, from my perspective, as I continue to develop in my understanding of what time is, or isn't. The Integral perspective is characterized by a perspective of time (personal, collective, and universal) as a progression of evolutionary Levels which redefine the nature of reality. Because this "time" concept often runs at odds with clock time (as in the case of regression), there is no word for what I'm talking about. We don't have a word for this basic characteristic of the universe - that it is a stack of holonic Levels, or to say it another way, that it is learning. Or another way to say it: the cosmos happens to become self-aware. The Big Bang is a machine that wakes up to itself.
