The Legendary lionized freak-folk’ king, Michael Hurley.

Michael Hurley, aka Snock, Elwood, Dr. Elwood Snock, Kornbred is what many in the music listening community have deemed as America’s freak-folk outsider. You may know him from songs like “Hog Of The Forsaken,” one of the featured closing credits songs on HBO’s “Deadwood.” Or a personal favorite of this writers, “Be Kind To Me.”

Now at 82, Snock is now seeing a rise, with new music listeners coming to his shows and jamming out to this absolute legend.

In May of last year, the WAF team got a call from our comrade Kassi Valazza about making a video with him. The acclaimed bar the Laurel Thirst was kind enough to host us a couple of hours before they opened for happy hour. Michael’s accomplice Lewi Longmire, who we owe an undying amount of gratitude for making this video happen, was a huge help in getting us set up with this video. Kassi and Merle Law, who are talented AF and Dr. Snock's good friends, we're terrific singing this song with him. It was amazing to see these two work together as Hurley rusted out this fan favorite song. But also, seeing them interact and treating him like a family member, was something to behold.
