Fatehpur, Uttar Pradesh: In a joint operation by the district administration and the Public Works Department (PWD), an illegal structure at the Nuri Jama Masjid in Lalauli town was demolished today. The action was taken as part of the road widening project on the Bahraich-Banda highway.

The illegal construction had been carried out by the mosque management committee along the road. The PWD had issued a notice to the committee on August 17, asking them to remove the unauthorized construction. Despite the notice and a follow-up deadline on September 24, the committee had not taken action to remove the structure. As a result, today’s operation was carried out to clear the encroachment.

The mosque management had initially requested time, claiming they would remove the structure themselves. However, with no action taken, the district administration and PWD team proceeded with the demolition.

Speaking about the operation, Vijay Shankar Mishra, Additional SP of Fatehpur, confirmed that the illegal construction had been cleared to ensure the smooth execution of the road widening project.
