14 1” iPad Pro is coming, but WHY??

People on this channel have been asking for bigger iPads for a while (Randomness r I’m looking at you) and I’ve always said that it didn’t make any sense. Now the most accurate leaker in the business, Ross Displayman Young says there’s a bigger one in the works.

But back to our iPad Pro - why should we listen to Ross? Because the only time he’s been wrong was when he was guessing the name of the iPhone SE3. Every leak about displays, he’s been spot on, including telling us about the 13.3” MacBook Air display going up to 13.6”

Anyway, huge iPad Pro, which Ross reports will include MiniLED and ProMotion, which makes sense for an iPad Pro is based on the reports he’s seeing likely to be targeting an early 2023 release. That would make sense for an iPad Pro with the M2 chip on the inside

So if we’re looking at why you’d want an iPad so big, I guess the biggest compelling reason is now that you can fit in more windows. With StageManager, you can fill the display and a connected display with more windows still. So now that you can change resolutions too and fit more on the iPad’s own display too, even better.

#icaveanswers With the introduction of Stage Manager, I’m considering replacing my A12X iPad Pro with an M2 iPad Pro this fall in lieu of a MBA (assuming we get an iPad Pro refresh this year). At the same cost ($1400 USD) and config (8/8 SOC, 512 GB, 8GB RAM) would you rather have an iPad Pro 12.9 or the M2 MBA? Assume the magic keyboard is included 😂

#icaveanswers Mark Gurman has previously reported that Apple is working on a larger MacBook Air version, likely 14-15”. Considering the weird placement of the M2 MBP, do you think Apple will replace that model with an M3 MBA 15 in late 23? If so, do you think it will receive a price bump? The $1500 price point seems like a logical place for a 3nm M3 chip inside (maybe even with an Apple cell modem option). Apple tends to inflate the price by $200-300 for a display size increase and $100 for new designs/display panels.

#icavedave Is it worth spending the extra $300 on getting the baseline 14” 8core CPU with 14core GPU MBP over getting a 10core GPU 16gb RAM 512gb storage MBA/MBP. I am mainly concerned about performance gains. Would extra 4 cores on the GPU be worth the money?

#icaveanswers all the software updates were nice I can’t wait to add them to my devices I’m really disappointed that my 2016 MacBook Pro won’t get macOS Ventura why did they cut the 2015 and 2016 model? Usually they cut off 1 … so sad :(

#iCaveAnswers For the first time since I bought my first Mac back in 1994, I’m going to buy my workhorse Mac second hand. A used Macbook Air M1 can do everything I need and comes for half the price compared to the Air M2 that I so badly wanted. I think Apple exaggerated with the price increase, at least in €urope. Do you think prices will go down again, once the lockdown and supply chain issues are resolved? I hope M3 can justify buying a shiny new Mac again 😁
