After defeating the resurrected Triumgorate, the party has reached the Palace of the Mighty at the pinnacle of the Realm of the Mighty. On the second level of the palace, they find their quarry, Corvus (time 0:12). Fortunately, if the party says "No" to him, he will not kill them as the Dragonlord would have in the first game.
But of course, the party must say "Yes." After a brief scene, it will be time for the first real battle against Corvus (time 1:18). Overall, he isn't overly difficult in this form. He is capable of boosting his tension, which can cause some problems. His Kaswoosh attack can deal over 100 points of damage to the entire party if his tension is high.
In all, this battle should not be too hard. The party can raise their defenses, boost tension, and clobber this fallen angel.
When the battle is over, Angelo reaches Priest Level 43 and finally learns Insulatle (time 4:37).
Another scene takes place after Corvus's defeat (time 5:01). He undergoes quite a transformation. He will await the party down below.
As the party leaves the Palace, another scene takes place (time 7:05). They fall down to the middle of the circle. Corvus is gaining power in a red sphere of energy. Time to stop him for good...
When the party examines Corvus's energy sphere, another scene takes place (time 7:28). Finally, it's time to beat up Barbarus for what he did to Greygnarl!
Barbarus is fairly strong, but I would have expected him to be more difficult. His Claw Slash attack can do about 80 damage to a single party member. His Malevolent Darkness attack can hit all party members for about 50 points of damage. He has Kazam, which can do about 60 damage to a single party member. His Wave of Panic attack has a chance to reduce the party's defence and agility.
As long as the Priest knows Multiheal, this battle should not present too much difficulty. Boosting the party's stats with Kabuff, Acceleratle, and Magic Barrier is quite helpful, and boosting tension before delivering powerful attacks remains a great strategy.
Upon his defeat, Barbarus drops an Yggdrasil Leaf. Nice prize!
When Barbarus is down, the party can now examine Corvus's energy sphere to begin the final battle. Before that, however, it is a very good idea to leave the dungeon, heal up, and save. So that's what my party is going to do.
After returning to the mortal realm, the party first heads to Gittingham Palace (time 14:17). In the northern part of the outer structure, they head upstairs and examine the bookcase (time 14:49). They receive their reward for completing Quest 115: Sages in the Pages: the ability to use the Sage vocation. Yes!
The book will also suggest that the party return when one of them has reached Sage Level 15. Sounds like a plan.
Armed with their new vocation, the party Zooms off to Alltrades Abbey. Then, they visit Abbot Jack (time 17:02). The Sage's vocation skill, Enlightenment, has some amazing MP-related traits. At 82 skill points, the character's natural max MP increases by 60 points. Further, sinking a total of 100 skill points into Enlightenment reduces MP consumption by 25%. There are also some good skills along this tree. Jack's Knack allows a party member to act like Abbot Jack and change fellow party members' vocations. Right as Rain acts like the Final Fantasy spell Regen and regenerates the entire party's HP for a few turns. Disruptive Wave dispels enemies' buffs.
For the MP bonuses alone, I will have every party member put 100 skill points into Enlightenment. This will help vocations with limited MP, such as the Paladin, and it will help defray the cost of powerful skills, such as Lightning Storm.
For the final battle, though, the party will remain in the vocations that they have already been using. Speaking of the final battle, that will be next time.
Thanks for watching!
