Leafcutter bees are essential pollinators that thrive in the summer, emerging when temperatures reach 75°F (24°C) or higher. The emergence timing depends on the delivery date and your specific climate. Unlike mason bees, which are shipped fully developed in cocoons, leafcutter bees come in the larvae stage, ready to continue their life cycle.

Our leafcutter bee kits comes with a nesting block filled with three rows of leafcutter larvae. Each larva is carefully wrapped in a leaf "sleeping bag", providing a safe and secure environment during transport. Typically, these bees require 6-8 weeks to mature into adults, with the process kicking off once the temperature is consistently above 75°F. Depending on your region, this generally happens from July to late August.
