Franz Kafkas „the trial“ was the first book which made me see the sheer power that a story can have on a person.
We are exposed to stories every single day. Not only in literature: the story how our parents met, the one about our last break-up or the stories we tell our friends when we haven‘t seen them for long.
These stories share the same features that make up a good story.

But the stories we are told are also dangerous. Especially the ones that try to be something more than stories. How do we have to look at them to recognize them from facts and scientific evidence? Alonso Burgos Vasquez Mellado was born in Mexico City and came to Berlin to study Comparative Literature and Political Science at the FU. He loves reading books and dreams of becoming a writer. Some of his favorite authors are José Saramago, Julio Cortázar and Juan Rulfo. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
