Relaxation and Gentle Stretching – Let’s get Feezycal Series by Dr. Adriana Potter, PT DPT
In this Video Dr. Potter will demonstrate a series of gentle relaxation and stretching to help you reset your posture, decompressing your nervous system.
Our central nervous system is comprised of 2 sections the sympathetic nervous system, AKA the fight or flight and the parasympathetic nervous system, AKA rest and digest.
In general. Life provides plenty of stimulation that feeds into the sympathetic nervous system – stress, overschedule calendar, exercise, rushing to places, pain, and so on. Overtime, your body becomes overloaded with these signals and start having more pain and aches, difficulty sleeping, poor digestion, increased cortisol levels, decreased immune response, insomnia, difficulty concentrating, memory issues and the list goes on.
WHAT CAN YOU DO ABOUT IT?
Balance your system with activities that feed on the other portion of the nervous system, the rest and digest – parasympathetic system.
The following are activities that you can engage to stimulate this system: diaphragmatic breathing, mindfulness, gentle stretches, slow movements, tai chi, walking, and meditation.
This video walks you through a series of slow movements with guide breathing to help you get started. O hope you enjoy and feel more relaxed after following along with it.
