Þessi krybbuskvettu gyðla er ungviði og einkum falleg svona einlit græn með smágerðar svartar doppur sem líta út eins og freknur. Speckled Bush-cricket nymphs are stumpy and green, covered in tiny black spots. Nymphs emerge in May and develop into their adults during late summer. Females lay their eggs in late summer in the bark of a tree or a plant stem. Then they overwinter until next spring.

Gyðla er ungviði skordýrs sem undirgengst ófullkomna myndbreytingu. Ungviði skordýra sem undirgangast fullkomna myndbreytingu kallast hinsvegar lirfur. Lesa meira: https://is.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gy%C3%B0la

Most years bush-crickets start to emerge from eggs sometime in May and, unlike their cousins the grasshoppers, they can be identified to species from the earliest stages. Grasshoppers need to pass through one or two moults before they show the characteristic patterns that separate species. Bush-crickets however are perfect adults in miniature with the characteristics required for field identification. The exception is the coneheads; Long-winged and Short-winged are both instantly recognisable as coneheads but the nymphs cannot be indentified to species level. Habitat can be used to aid identification of Short-winged Conehead but not so Long-winged Conehead. See more: http://www.wbrc.org.uk/WORCRECD/34/Fa...

These bush-crickets are mainly grass-green with minute black speckles[6] (more evident in the nymphs), as reflected in the common and Latin name of the species. Its colouring and secretive lifestyle, hidden away in the undergrowth, mean that it often passes unnoticed. The dorsal surface of the abdomen features an orangey-brown stripe; this is more pronounced in the male than the female. A yellow-white stripe extends backwards from the eyes. The lower legs and feet are brownish. The antennae are twice as long as the body. The species is brachypterous: the male's forewings are reduced to small flaps, and those of the female are even more reduced.[8] The hindwings are completely absent, and both males and females are flightless. The female's ovipositor is laterally compressed and curves sharply upwards. See more: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speckle...

The Speckled bush-cricket, as its name suggests, is covered in tiny, black speckles. It can be found in scrub, hedgerows and gardens throughout summer. Males rub their wings together to create a 'song' for the females. See more: https://www.wildlifetrusts.org/wildli...

Tettigoniids range in size from as small as 5 mm to as large as 130 mm. The smaller species typically live in drier or more stressful habitats which may lead to their small size. The small size is associated with greater agility, faster development, and lower nutritional needs. Tettigoniids are tree-living insects that are most commonly heard at night during summer and early fall. Tettigoniids may be distinguished from the grasshopper by the length of their filamentous antennae, which may exceed their own body length, while grasshoppers' antennae are always relatively short and thickened. The insect was unharmed in the making of this video.

Unfortunately handheld, with such a macro the video is shaky and not always on focus. I filmed this with Panasonic Lumix DMC- TZ40 camera
