What are Cognitive illusions?

Cognitive illusions are assumptions made while interacting with the world, which can result in unconscious inferences. These types of illusions may belong one of 4 types of categories of cognitive illusions.

The first category is distorting illusions.
These illusions produce a distortion in size, length or curvature.
For instance, in this first image, are the horizontal lines perfectly straight?
Let's add a ruler and find out.

In this next image does the center of this checkered board seemed curved?

The second category is ambiguous illusions. These illusions cause alternative perceptions.
For example, can you see the cube in this image?

Or in this image did you see the blocks or the word lift first.

The third category is made up of Paradox illusions. These are illusions that make people perceive impossible objects.
For instance, in this first image, look at the rear bottom corner.

Or what about this object? does it seem plausible?

The final category for cognitive illusions are fictional illusions. These types of illusions are caused by hallucinations, and are limited to a single observer.
