The Exhortation
Hebrews 6:1-3
Exhortation meaning - “to cause someone to be encouraged or consoled, either by verbal or non-verbal means - “to encourage, to console, encouragement.”
The Warning
Hebrews 6:4-6
Four Interpretations…
First, it is a warning against apostasy or losing one’s salvation.
Second, it is a judgment against false believers, though professing trust in Christ, who in reality are not saved.
Third, it is a caution against spiritual immaturity, to encourage believers to press on to spiritual maturity to avoid the discipline of God, which would be certain to come if they were to remain stagnant or regress spiritually.
Fourth, it is an assurance to believers through a timely illustration.
