Same, But Better?

The SuperPig review is an interesting one since we had such mixed feelings on the regular Warpig in our first experience with it. Sev liked the Superpig when he got to ride it at demo days.

The Superpig shares the same shape (taper, sidecut, etc) as the regular Warpig, but that’s where the similarities end. Similarly to what we saw in Jones between ultra and regular constructions, the way Ride has modified the guts of the board gives the super a very different riding personality than it’s plain jane cousin. You can sum up the biggest changes from regular to super as: camber and carbon.

The hybrid camber profile ride applied to this shape puts a good amount of positive camber under and between the rider's feet. Combined with the butt load of carbon (front and back x’s as well as carbon slimewalls in the tail), the Superpig was found to be much livelier and generally more fun to ride. Sev didn’t find the actual flex of the board significantly stiffer than the regular, just that the pop and return were generally much more crisp and polished. The flex on the Superpig made this board handle much better on the groomers, and made carving it feel a lot more precise and refined than on the Warpig.

Overall feeling: If you’re looking for a more aggressive, volume shifted (short/fat), all around board this may be worth checking out. Lots of power and pop from the camber and carbon combo make this fun to jump and launch on, while the shorter length excels in the trees. It feels better carving than the Warpig, and generally just responded well to the various features and conditions that it was pointed at.
