On Friday night in Ithaca, Army struck first at Cornell, but the Big Red’s middleweight bonus-point surge flipped the dual and never let the lead come back. On Sunday at West Point, the Black Knights answered with their first win of the 2025–26 season—opening EIWA play with a gritty 22–17 victory over American and earning Coach Troy Nickerson his first dual win at the helm.

FRIDAY: ARMY at CORNELL | Final: Cornell 25, Army 13Army won 4 bouts on a night that honored Military Appreciation and marked a homecoming for Army’s head coach—Troy Nickerson, a 2010 Cornell graduate and 2009 NCAA Champion at 125.

125 | Charlie Farmer opened the dual with a statement major decision (14–4) to put Army on the board early.


133 | Ethan Berginc pushed it to the edge—falling 3–2 on riding time tiebreaker after a wild sudden-victory battle.


141 | Conor Collins showed toughness vs. elite competition, riding out the entire third period to keep it to a decision.


165 | Gunner Filipowicz delivered a clutch, low-scoring win—2–0 (riding time).


197 | Wolfgang Frable shut it down defensively and earned a 4–0 decision.Cornell’s middleweights stacked bonus points and created separation, but Army kept fighting through ranked matchups all night.






SUNDAY: AMERICAN at ARMY | Final: Army 22, American 17


Army entered Sunday still hunting its first dual win of 2025–26 after opening the year with four straight ranked opponents—then bounced back in a big way to start EIWA action 1–0. After dropping the first three bouts, Army flipped the dual by winning 5 of the next 6, with bonus points powering the comeback.

157 | Joseph Antonio put Army on the board with a technical fall (18–3).


165 | Gunner Filipowicz followed with another hammer—tech fall (17–2), nearly getting the pin.


174 | Cooper Haase delivered a huge swing match—major decision (11–4) to give Army its first lead after trailing 11–0.


197 | Wolfgang Frable blew the roof off with a dominant 16–0 tech fall (three separate back-point scores).


HWT | Brady Colbert sealed the dual with a composed 2–0 decision, riding out the third period.


125 | Charlie Farmer battled in the closer but fell 7–4 to end the day.
