Welcome to my new channel where we take old clothes and make it fashion! My name is Peer Cox, I am a fashion designer and I want to inspire you to think twice before you throw away your clothes. I take mostly vintage or old clothes and make tutorial style DIY videos. I do sewing projects, try new and traditional (fabric manipulation) techniques in my home and do all kinds of vintage clothing transformations. These transformations are called #thriftflip on social media. Some outfits will be ready to wear to the office but there will also be high fashion almost couture looks and everything in between. So if you are into #fabricmanipulation, #3dshibori #redesign or #upcyclingfashion avant-garde fashion make sure to subscribe and also follow me on instagram because I upload a lot of stuff there that you won't find here. Let's make upcycling great again and inspire each other with our Do it Yourself projects!

High-end and sustainable fashion design does not have to be boring and can be super luxurious without being wasteful and unaffordable!

TODAYS DIY PROCESS AND TIPS
In todays thrift flip I discover the secrets of the Japanese 3d Shibori technique. For a project like this your garment has to be of a synthetic fabric (polyester, nylon), the textures will not last in a natural fabric (cotton, silk, wool). To create the textures you need objects to wrap in the fabric like paperclips, marbles, coins and I chose screws.
Be aware that the objects have to be heat resistant because it will be steamed in very high temperatures. Than you need a yarn to wrap the objects in your textile. Make sure that this yarn is not coloured because in the heat it can stain your fabric! If you wrap screws in your garment, be careful to not poke holes in your fabric because they are pretty sharp. After you have wrapped all your objects in the garment and are sure about the positioning you can put it in the vegetable steamer for about 25 minutes. After that, carefully take it out and watch out for the hot steam! Now your project has to dry completely which takes usually 24+ hours. Save some energy and do not use a hairdryer like me :$.
When it is 100% dry you can take your yarns off. Maybe you can keep the yarns for another project, to not create any waste. Now your project is ready to wear and shine. I do not recommend repeating the process because than you risk loosing your first results.

I would recommend to only do cold handwashes treating your garment with the most care possible. Since the textures are created with heat and pressure, these will also be able to erase the textures and your hours of work. So no hot water, iron, drycleaning etc.
