NFL historians, it's time for you to cast your vote on who deserves the title, "Best barefoot kicker in NFL history." In this video, we have 3 deserving candidates: Mike Lansford of the Los Angeles Rams, Tony Franklin of the Philiadelphia Eagles, and Rich Karlis of the Denver Broncos. (I know these players played for other teams, but they're primarily associated with the clubs just mentioned.)

Here, I've combined pictures of the players and select video clips. All left a footprint (pun intended) on the football landscape.

Mike Lansford will be remembered for his clutch performances and accuracy -- at least from inside the 45 yard line. He exhibited last minute heroics against the Saints, Bears, and other teams, making him a Rams fan favorite.

He helped the Rams get into the playoffs with his dependable foot, and aided the team's efforts in winning games in the playoffs. Here is an amazing fact: He never missed a last minute game tying or winning field goal!

Tony Franklin achieved stardom at Texas A&M with booming 60-yard plus field goals, and added to his legacy as a Philadelphia Eagle. The fans loved his reliable, booming leg. The fans celebrated Franklin's achievements forming his own cheer group called "Tony's Toes."

Franklin booted the fourth longest field goal (at the time) in NFL history during his rookie year , a 59-yarder at Dallas on November 12, 1979. Even more importantly, Franklin played in Super Bowl XV and kicked a 30-yard field goal.

Rich Karlis, however, may deserve your vote as "Most Valuable Foot." He is best remembered for two reasons:

a) He kicked the game-winning field goal in overtime for Denver against the Cleveland Browns in the 1986 AFC Championship Game, enabling the Brocos to reach Super Bowl XXI; and

b) He tied a then NFL record by kicking seven field goals in a game for the Minnesota Vikings, a record which stood until 2007

He was just as accurate as his counterparts, Mike Lansford and Tony Franklin, but he may have lacked Lansford's overall clutch performances, and Franklin's foot and leg power.
