Bubbles, Gimpy, baby javelina and unknown nervous coyotes

Описание к видео Bubbles, Gimpy, baby javelina and unknown nervous coyotes

This was another big night for the water bowls with activities all through the night and morning hours. A large, older male javelina makes his regular appearance. I call him "Bubbles" because of the way he drinks. I think he may be unique in this regard. We also see "Gimpy" who has a old leg injury. I first recorded Gimpy with injury in February 2023, but I know that I observed him before that when I hadn't given him a name. Giving them names help me to remember who is who and what their identifying feature is. This isn't a sentimental activity on my part. Even though I care greatly for these animals, they are still very wild and would harm anyone that would come too close. When I first observed Gimpy the leg/foot injury was fairly new because there was some flesh or fur dangling off the foot and he couldn't put any weight on it. Now he can put weight on it a move fairly well, but still favors the foot. These coyotes I haven't seen before. I know they are not our regulars because of their very nervous behavior, and they are young, a couple of them injured. These injuries could probably heal with time, but could impair their hunting abilities. We live close to a busy road and both javelinas and coyotes are hit by cars every so often.
