Chasing Canadian Pacific 2816 across the Mississippi and beyond!

On May 9, 2024, we set out to chase CPR 2816 over 170 miles across the state of Illinois and over the Mississippi to its destination in Davenport, Iowa. Behind the Hudson was quite the consist, including two historically painted FP9's, and a collection of business cars from both the CP and KCS. Today was only part of the Final Spike Tour between Calgary, Alberta and Mexico City, but it shaped up to be quite the chase, and the 2816 proved to be slippery at times. As an added bounus, it seems as though the locomotive's 6-chime whistle got much more love on this leg of the trip than any other day. Join us as we follow the Empress under moody skies all the way to Davenport.

P.S. those rain drops seemed much bigger west of the Mississippi.
