Let's go through the care for one of my favourite houseplants, the Pilea. Today I am going to cover watering, sunlight, fertilizer, propagation, potting medium and common issues for this plant.

The Pilea peperomioides AKA the Chinese money plant, UFO plant, pancake plant, friendship plant & missionary plant. The Pilea Peperomioides should be watered when the top 1-2 inches of soil are dry. It prefers bright, indirect light and a well-draining potting mix. Yellowing leaves are a common sign of overwatering.

Pilea basic care
Watering: Water when the top 1-2 inches of soil are dry. Don't let it sit in soggy soil. The leaves will droop slightly when it's thirsty. I prefer to bottom water mine as wet leaves and stems can mean leaf drop.
For this same reason I Do not mist or use neem oil on this plant
Sunlight: Bright, indirect light. Direct sunlight will burn the leaves. Rotate the plant weekly to keep it from growing lopsided. I use a stake to keep mine growing straight
Fertilizer: Fertilize monthly during spring and summer with a balanced, all-purpose liquid fertilizer.
Propagation: Propagates easily from "pups" that grow from the base of the plant. Gently separate the pup from the mother plant, pop it soil straight away or water propagate
Potting Medium: A well-draining, all-purpose potting mix is suitable. I use a cacti and soil mix.
Pilea Peperomioides issues
Yellowing Leaves: This is a classic sign of overwatering. The leaves, especially the lower, older ones, will turn yellow and may feel soft or mushy. It can also be a sign of a nutrient deficiency or, less commonly, underwatering.
Drooping Leaves: Can be caused by both underwatering and overwatering.
Underwatering: The leaves will droop and feel soft and pliable, but the soil will be very dry.
Overwatering: The leaves droop because of root damage, and the stems may become soft. The soil will be wet.
Curling Leaves: Leaves that curl inward in a "cup" shape are often a sign of underwatering or lack of humidity. The plant is trying to conserve moisture.
Brown Spots or Edges: This can be caused by sunburn from too much direct sunlight. It can also be a sign of overwatering (dark, mushy spots) or low humidity (crispy, dry edges).
White Spots on Leaves: These are mineral deposits from tap water and are generally harmless. You can switch to filtered water to prevent them.

Weekly-fortnightly, I only water only from the base - aka bottom watering.
Bright indirect sunlight.

Pilea Peperomioides issues

The Plant Food is a special formulation of nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium (N.P.K), with trace elements and seaweed.
