This Zircon Metaliscanner m40 stud finder seeks out metal objects. In this case we are detecting the very small nails that fasten the lathe boards to the studs. It is on these boards that the plaster for the walls is attached. The Zircon M40 easily detects the nails below the surface quite easily.
This Zircon stud finder can detect through concrete, stucco, wood, drywall etc. Since we know that lathe was nailed to the studs, then using a nail finder, metal detector is the perfect tool.
