We're talking about maximizing content reach. If you want to attract the right clients and have them approach you to work with you rather than chasing leads, you have to create valuable content, and get it out there.
You need to maximize your content's reach, and to do that you need a strategic workflow.
Don't worry, it's not as scary as it sounds.
So, why do you want to maximize content reach? Creating content is tough. It's time consuming. It takes a lot longer to write a great blog post than it does to read one. Same for podcasts and videos, slides, infographics. Pretty much any type of content you care to create.
If you're going to put the time in to create it, you owe it to yourself to maximize your content's reach. And with so many types of content out there, and so many social networks and sites blooming every week, keeping up with content creation schedule can get to be a nightmare fast.
How do you decide what to focus on? If you write long form text like me, the thought of reaching users who prefer video and other content types can be daunting. But if you don't, you're missing out on a large slice of your audience, and more importantly, you're making it harder for people who need to hear what you have to say to find you and make a genuine connection with you.
So, failure to maximize your content reach is also a disservice to your audience. It would be like a film studio releasing a film on DVD but not BluRay, or an app developer releasing an iPhone app with no Android equivalent.
That's where the strategic workflow comes in.
But what is a strategic workflow?
I told you, it isn't as scary as it sounds. A strategic workflow is simply a method of doing things that makes the most of your work. It's a way of producing content in multiple formats as an organic process, rather than an afterthought. It might take some getting used to. But once you've done it a few times, and tweaked the order to suit how you work, it has multiple advantages.
It can maximize content reach by exposing your work to a wider audience in multiple formats.
It can save you time because you create images in batches and simply resize and re-purpose for multiple distribution channels.
It helps you produce branded assets, because the images are the same across multiple channels, and so your audience recognize you wherever they come into contact with you.
It helps build your reputation, because your audience sees you everywhere and becomes familiar with your brand.
And it builds your mailing list by creating referral loops.
