Panasonic DMR EZ48V DVD/VHS recorder U80 and U81 faults cured.
This video will only be of interest to someone wanting to know how to strip down of a Panasonic DMR EZ48V DVD-VHS player/recorder to get to the faulty PCB and replace the failing capacitors that causes the U80 and U81 faults.

The reason that I made this video is that when I found someone on eBay selling a ‘Fix’ for this fault they said that it involved a fair bit of dismantling and that anyone not comfortable with a significant amount of dismantling may not want to carry out the repair. The only tools you need are a Philips screwdriver, a small flat blade screwdriver, a soldering iron and a small pair of wire cutters. I use a solder sucker but you can manage without one. Once you know what has to be done and how to do it, it should probably take around 30 to 45 minutes to complete the job. In this video you’re with me for the first time that I’ve carried out this repair.

I purchase the fixing kit, which comprises of nine electrolytic capacitors from Steve who trades on eBay under the store name of ‘wizardfest’ the nine capacitors cost little more than a cup of coffee and Steve emailed four pages of instructions.

I don’t know Steve and I’ve never dealt with wizardfest before but he has a good rating (November 2017) and his ‘kit’ works for me, the delivery was fast and the instructions are good.

You can contact Steve at [email protected] The repair kit has the item number as #172638133006 and you can find it on eBay by entering that number.
Maybe you’ll let him know where you found the info?
I hope this helps you.

Kind Regards . . . Andy.
