Music for Black Sine Wave

On July 2023, Ehsan Saboohi, Composer and the Post-Orientalism music theorist published his theory revolving the significance of the bass line in the methodology of Post-Orientalism music, by releasing his twenty-four pieces of bass compositions for a sine wave on Noise à Noise. Sounds were released without any further processing of the sounds.

By doing so, Saboohi invited his colleagues from across the disciplines of art (Music, Painting, Cinema and Literature) through a number of open-calls and friendly invitations, an invitation which was about adding to or making with a free development of the pieces from his solo-bass album.



Composer’s Note (Parham Izadyar):


Seven tones have been selected based on Persian Dastgah named ‘Segah’. these seven notes are the first group from Ehsan Saboohi’s Track List that had the most number of notes suitable for ‘Segah’: B, A, D+, F#, E, G+, C#


Each of the pieces is composed for each of the notes, and it is a dialogue with the same note from Ehsan Saboohi's Album. The main note or the base note is the one that is used the most, or all frequencies are moving around that note and the composition for all seven pieces is in a circle, so that this dialogue never ends. the circle means that if you play the files in opposite order or reverse the files and listen to it. It would feel almost the same.


Parham Izadyar is a contemporary artist and audio programmer. Most of his works are electronic music which are inspired by Iranian traditional music. He is also interested in sound designing for visual arts. His main goal is to find a balance between intuition and logic while doing art.

Technical part:

All of the compositions are made/ developed in the Csound, which is a computer programming language, and the scores are all written in pandas library and drawsvg library in python
