If you thought one Muckdile was evil, how about TWO? This special hell formation can only be encountered through gathering blindsides. Yeah you can tell it's a big sick joke. This battle can only be done on floor 30, where all the item points have a 15% ambush chance, and then you have a 3% chance to run into these two.

Because this encounter is exclusive to gathering ambushes, that means it'll always start off as a blindside. Yeah. Your first order of business if you're serious about actually fighting this ridiculous encounter is to somehow find a way to survive that first turn. The method I chose was to stack 3 Cut Talismans to reduce the damage by 90%. And as you can still tell, these monsters still did enough damage to kill 3 of my party members despite that! This is why I needed the Cut Mists to halve their damage even after that to give me more wiggle room, and they're still a massive threat!

As for my setup, I swapped out my Protector for a Survivalist because Smite is way too risky to use since it has an arm bind chance. So I swapped it out for another fast support, and one that granted me actual speed control with 1st Turn so I could use my Hexer to stunlock these two as long as possible. From there it was all about gradually grinding down the two Muckdiles until one died, then things were pretty under control after that. If I did not stunlock them, the two would have ripped my party apart even with their damage reduced by 95%. Let that sink in about how ridiculous this fight is.

Fun fact, this is actually the first time I've won against this special hell battle! In all my other playthroughs I never even bothered because... why in the world would you want to subject yourself to this???
