Choosing the Ultimate Crossbow Bolt!

Описание к видео Choosing the Ultimate Crossbow Bolt!

In this video, Chris Creed of Afflictor Broadheads gives us the run down on how to choose the best crossbow bolt for your setup. Whether you are shooting a new age crossbow at 400+ FPS or an older one shooting closer to 300 FPS, the bolt choice is crucial to consistency and accuracy.

The first thing to consider is whether you want to shoot Aluminum bolts or Carbon bolts. Aluminum bolts tend to have a lower upfront cost than carbon bolts but they are prone to bending causing you to purchase more in the long run.

Carbon bolts have an upfront cost that is more expensive, but tend to last longer and are much more durable. With my setup, I am shooting carbon bolts.

The next thing to consider is the nock. If you are shooting lighted nocks, or the nocks provided by your manufacturer it is important to make sure they are all aligned consistently for the best performance.

Once you have decided what bolt and nock you are shooting, you then have to decide what weight and length you want to shoot. Crossbow bolts range from 16" to 22". If your bolt is too short, you won't Clear the valley of the crossbow and could have bad results. Always check the manufacturer's recommendations for bolt length!

Last but CERTAINLY not least, is your broadhead. Whether its fixed, hybrid, or mechanical, we like to shoot heavier setups out of our crossbows. Some manufacturers will even recommend 150 grain broadheads which we think is great!

And as always, practice practice practice!
