In a recent interview with the Madhya Pradesh Convener of the Janjatiya Suraksha Manch (JSM) - Kailash Ninama, the demand to delist converted tribals from the Scheduled Tribes list was discussed in depth. The JSM, affiliated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), has been spearheading a movement advocating for this demand, which has gained momentum in the past year.

The Convener explained that the rationale behind their demand lies in the preservation of tribal identity and culture. According to the JSM, conversion to religions such as Christianity or Islam leads to a disconnect from tribal heritage, undermining the purpose of affirmative action policies aimed at uplifting tribal communities.

Over the past year, the JSM has organized numerous public meetings, rallies, and awareness campaigns to garner support for their cause. Their efforts have resonated with a significant portion of the tribal population, particularly in states like Madhya Pradesh, which has the largest tribal population in the country. However, the movement has also created fear among converted tribals nationwide, who are concerned about the implications of being delisted from the Scheduled Tribes list.
