Hello Everyone Welcome To Engineer’s Academy

There are three types of Production systems in manufacturing industry Such as
1.Jobshop Porduction System
2.Batch Production System
3.Mass Production System

1. Job shop Production : this is the seciallised production system, Consist of less no of high skilled workers , which does the Speciallised job, as the job is speciallised , quantity of production is Very less.

A single Unit
Less no. of Highskilled Workers - Production rate is low
quantity is Less But Quality is High
Product Customisaton is Much more Possible
Product cost is More.
Flexibility is Possible
Material Handling is Very Easy for less no, of Jobs but becomes complicated as the no. of jobs Increases.
Inventory is more in this Case.


2.Batch Production Sytem: This type of Production system deals With the Semi skilled as well as high skilled workers , enables them to produce the Product in batches , Hence termed as batch prodction system.

Product produced in Batches / LOTS.
Batches are having the Predetermined quantities , Depends upon the Requirement of Customer
batch or lot size frequency is Determined by Customer.
EBS - Economical Batch size, this Term is Used in Batch production System.
Where the Customer has to make a make or Buy Descison
the Quantity produce is moderate and quality is as per the Requirement of Customer.
semi skilled or high skilled manpower Required.
Moderate Set up cost in this Case.
Inventory maintained is very high.
Product Customisation is Someway possible.

Mass production system : It the Production system in which high no. of Quantities gets Produced.
Unskilled or semi skilled worker used.
Product customisation is much more difficult.
Line layout is adopted.
The production is carried out in a series if workstations.. so if a workstation malfunctions the whole process gets affected. Hence the preventive maintenance is required after regular intervals.
The quality if produced product is as per thr industry standard but it is lower than that of batch and job shop production system.
The material handling is very much easy in this case.
Maintaining the inventories is much more easier.
This production system can be automised and hence needed a high initial set up cost.
